20-35g dry fabric Viscose dye; 20 ml for dark shade 25-70g dry fabric 80-100gr dry fabric
For lightest shades use 1/10th of the above recommended dye
quantities.
1 litre water
(e.g. 55 x 55 cm Devore scarf)
Silk dye; 10 ml for dark shade
Fixative: 12 drops
White vinegar:6 drops
Cooking salt; 1/2 teaspoon.
2 litres water
(e.g. 35x130cm Devore scarf)
Viscose dye; 40 ml for dark shade
Silk dye; 20 ml for dark shade
Fixative: 24 drops
White vinegar: 12 drops
Cooking salt; 1 teaspoon.
3 litres water
(e.g. 50x180cm Devore scarf)
Viscose dye; 60 ml for dark shade
Silk dye; 30 ml for dark shade
Fixative: 36 drops
White vinegar: 15 drops
Cooking salt; 11/2 teaspoon.
Dyeing procedure
1.Add chosen dyes, Fixative, Salt &
Vinegar to cold dye bath. 2., Stir well to combine colours and add
damp scarf. Begin heating dye bath Raise temperature to
boiling and maintain for 20 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and leave to stand in
dye bath for another 10 minutes. 4. Remove scarf from dye bath and rinse
in cold water, then wash in lukewarm soapy water. Rinse
again in clean water and gently squeeze out excess. Do not
reuse the dye bath. 5.Dry fabric by lying flat on
absorbent paper (or use a hair dryer). You may iron on the
wrong side. Some colouring of
the paler fibre by the darker one is unavoidable, Yellow
& Blue and Yellow & Black combinations in
particular. Please keep this in mind when choosing
colours. Monochrome dyeing
(one colour) is possible by using matching shades of each
dye, if dyeing monochrome Black use twice the
recommended measurements.
