COCHINEAL

We have new stock of Cochineal -  not powder, not extract - real dried bugs that yield the most beautiful pinks, mauves, peaches, etc.  

And it is Fair Trade cochineal - purchased directly from a farmer's co-operative in South America.

The image is a length of silk I dyed a few years ago with wax resist, and about 3 different mordants.

BATIK OETORO has been providing dyes, fabric paints, etc to everyone since 1972.  And now with Lynne Britten's wealth of technical knowlege and hands on experience we have the perfect combination...  

Our factory and showroom are located at 8/9 Arnhem Close, Gateshead, NSW (a suburb of Newcastle).  With plenty of free parking at the door.

The official opening hours are 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.   (closed weekends and public holidays).  

We answer the phone from 9am until we leave each afternoon.  The fax machine is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as is the email - and they are both checked constantly in business hours.

WORKSHOP DATES FOR 2013   -  we will be running at least one class per month at the factory again this year.  Please take a look at the dates and classes we have listed.  If there is a topic you are interested in that we have not timetabled, and you have 3 or more friends that want to do the class too - contact us and we can slot you in...
